Heart Reading … Day 39

Wishing you the joy of a child lost in discovery.

I wish you the joy of a child discovering something special.

I can wish this for you today because it is something I felt for myself today. This red heart featured in most of my posts was given to me by my daughter one recent Mother’s Day. It is heavy and wonderful to hold, just like my heart, just like your heart. And I had the sweet notion today to place this heart in various places as if this object had life energy to discover, to experience, to see with fresh eyes — and of course it was me discovering, experiencing, and looking at my environment with fresh eyes.

I wish you easefulness along with your joy.

I wish you safety and the ability to be and remain free from harm.

These two wishes seem naive, like so much of what my heart speaks. But these two wishes are very important and, as we each wish for the easefulness and safety of all, we are acknowledging the humanity and dignity of all beings.

I write this because the news is overwhelming — every day the earth is telling us in no uncertain terms how fragile the balance of life has become, and every day human beings are fraying, demonstrating our instability emotionally and psychologically.

You know — if you still your mind long enough to hear your heart — that none of us are safe until all of us are safe. And easefulness cannot be experienced until the wrenching of our guts ceases. If you are not aware of your wrenching guts and think it’s due entirely to your personal concerns, you are not seeing the full picture.

This heart reading is an acknowledgement that I — and most everyone I know — do not know how to create the conditions for the real wrenching of guts to cease. The systems of authority are crumbling, most mainstream leaders are unable to comprehend the conditions for justice that are needed now, and the boys with too much pride are incapable of reading their own hearts or those of other beings.

There is no humor with a heart under water. But there are children to consider — like the two infants swept out of their fathers arms in yesterday’s hurricane.

I wish you safety and the ability to be and remain free from harm.
